WOW Party A Great Success

More than 40 children, tweens, youth and adults celebrated the last WOW Wednesday by enjoying the great outdoors. Some made bubbles, some made chalk drawings, a some played kickball, but everyone had a good time. The weather and fellowship was great. New Study of the Lord’s Prayer to Begin Sunday, May 20

One of the most familiar rituals of weekly worship is the Lord’s Prayer. And yet how often do we really reflect on the deeper meaning of these words Jesus taught us? Perhaps not as often as we should. With this in mind, Pastor Johnson if offering a six-week study on the Lord’s Prayer, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray.” Class objectives for our study are these: 1) To see what we can learn about the Lord’s Prayer when it is set in its biblical context. 2) To see what the Lord’s Prayer can teach us about the activity of prayer, and 3) To see what all of this teaches us about biblical spirituality.

We invite you to join us for this time of personal and group reflection as we seek to explore the riches of this ancient yet contemporary prayer. For more information about this class please call the church office at 479-442-8677.

Please join the Ladies of Sequoyah on Tuesday, June 5 @ 6:00 PM for a night of food, fun and laughs in the Children’s Chapel at SUMC. Members are encouraged to bring a salad to share and the Executive Committee will provide desserts. First timers and Youth ladies are guests. In addition to salad and dessert, there will be a White Elephant gift exchange with all donations going to local missions.

Here comes the Easter Bunny! That’s right, bring your cameras and Easter Baskets, Saturday, April 7. Start the day with a Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the men of Sequoyah UMC, serving line open from 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.. The Easter Bunny will appear around 9:30 a.m. and the Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 a.m. Children will be hunting eggs in different areas based on their age (toddlers and preschool, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade). There will be special “Prize Eggs” for each age group.

Maundy Thursday Service April 5 at 5:45 p.m.

This year we will be offering a different kind of Maundy Thursday service. On Maundy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper Jesus celebrated with his twelve disciples as they gathered for the Passover meal the night he was betrayed. We will begin with a fellowship meal at 5:45pm, gathering around a common meal as did Jesus and his disciples. (Cost of the meal is $4.00 per plate with a $15.00 family maximum.) After the meal, we will experience the events of Jesus’ Last Supper with his twelve disciples through a drama which will include elements of the Passover Seder meal. We will then join in the Sacrament of Holy Communion as a congregation. The entire service will be in the Fellowship Hall, allowing participants to experience this night around a table with fellow disciples, gathered to celebrate and to remember as we journey with Jesus to Calvary.
